Group pushes for Chicago to become 51st state

I’m sick of the crazy news this year. Between all this pandemic stuff, political news, and the daily stupidity, I’m past my limits. So my eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw that there’s a group out there pushing Chicago to become its own state.
We’ve heard of stories like this happening in Texas and New York throughout the years, so it was only a matter of time before a group in Illinois thought of the same thing.
Turns out Representative Brad Halbrook, R-Shelbyville, filed Illinois House Resolution 101, calling to make Chicago the nation’s 51st state, and he’s got the support of several other chief co-sponsors.
The Constitution does allow for the addition of new states, but the chances of this are quite slim and a lot of politicians need to agree (something that almost never happens).
But, to be fair, Chicago and the rest of Illinois is a completely different world. It’s almost hard to believe that the city is in the same state as acres and acres of farm land. I imagine that the rest of the state is bothered by most funding going to Chicago instead of their communities and that their taxes might be higher as a result of the Windy City.
Can you imagine Chicago as it’s own state? We’d probably go bankrupt within a month. Count me out.
