Jammin’ Down JD shows

Born and raised in Chicago and the North Suburbs, and now a South Side resident, JAMMINDOWNJD (Joe Delfin) is a longtime DJ spinning since 1986 and a veteran of radio broadcasting since the early 90s. Currently, he is the Executive Producer and Air Personality for 103.1FM PARTY ZONE at WPNA-FM Chicago. He is also the CEO/Entertainment Director for Ultra Events Chicago, producing and spinning for weddings and corporate events. He is also a teacher at St. Therese Chinese Catholic School in Chicago.

Influenced by the HotMix5 and the Supermixx 6 on the original WBMX and WGCI in the 80s, JD started spinning house, freestyle, and new wave on records. He gained residencies at Riviera Nightclub, Alexandro’s, and Club 5050 Beaumont, plus spun at legendary clubs such as Warehouse, Excalibur, Shelter, Ka-Boom!, Medusa, Eriks North, and countless others.

JD has always been a champion for dance radio. He joined ENERGY 88.7 WLUW Chicago in the early 90s, and was hired immediately as the Midday Air Personality and to lead the weekly mixshow “Club Jam!”. He climbed up the management ladder to Program Director before leaving in 1997. He was hired as Music Director and Cyberjock for CYBER RADIO 92.7 (WCBR-FM Arlington Heights/Chicago) from 1997-1998. In 2001, JD helped launch the dance radio station ENERGY 92.7/5 (WKIE/WKIF/WDEK Chicago) and was also one of its air personalities. JD has also been an air personality on 103.7 KISS-FM (WXSS Milwaukee) in 2003-2005 and recently a mixshow DJ for 102.3 THE BEAT (WCKG Elmhurst IL).

JD founded JamTraxx Media in 1998, which pursued streaming and eventually radio syndication. In 2003, JamTraxx launched RadioMixes with its first affiliate, B96 WBBM-FM Chicago, and eventually expanded to over a hundred affiliates throughout the United States and Canada. JamTraxx Media also consulted radio stations on programming and even launched new music formats. JD left the company behind in 2010 to pursue opportunities in event production.

In his personal life, JD has a wonderful wife and son. He flew an airplane when he was 15 years old. He survived two earthquakes in Tokyo. He is a major sci-fi geek (especially Star Wars and Star Trek), enjoys challenging Japanese logic puzzles such as kakuro, hidato, and sudoku, loves to play golf, and is always willing to try new challenges.
